Las Vegas Motorcycle Accident Lawyer

Las Vegas may be known for its casinos, but experienced bikers know Nevada’s best-kept secret is the miles and miles of great rides it has to offer, many of these just a stone’s throw from Vegas. From the Hoover Dam to the Valley of Fire, from Red Rock Canyon to the Laughlin River Run, motorcycle enthusiasts can enjoy the roads and highways around Las Vegas year-round, whether for long weekend rides or as their main mode of transportation for going to work and getting around town. Motorcycles are fast, fun, and economical ways to travel, but they aren’t without their risks. Traffic accidents happen to people driving all sorts of vehicles, but motorcyclists involved in a crash are far more likely to get seriously hurt than people inside a car who are protected with seat belts, airbags, and inches of reinforced steel between themselves and the car that hits them. Nationwide, motorcycle riders are nearly 30 times more likely to die in a crash than other motor vehicle occupants, and the numbers in Nevada tell the same tale.

Motorcycle accident victims need significant compensation after a crash to deal with catastrophic injuries and the medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering that go along with them. Family members who lose a loved one in a fatal motorcycle accident likewise need significant financial help to deal with the loss of a valued member of the family. Cameron Law is a Las Vegas personal injury law firm dedicated to helping traffic accident victims and their families hold negligent drivers accountable for their preventable mistakes and the needless tragedies their negligence has visited on innocent accident victims. If you or a family member were injured or worse in a motorcycle accident in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Paradise or Spring Valley, call our experienced Las Vegas motorcycle accident lawyer for help.

Las Vegas and Nevada Motorcycle Crash Statistics

According to the Nevada Traffic Safety Crash Facts published in April 2021, motorcycle accidents accounted for 19.8% of total traffic fatalities over a five-year period between 2015 and 2019. This figure highlights just how dangerous motorcycle accidents can be; given that motorcycles only account for less than seven percent of vehicle registrations in the state, motorcycle fatalities are far out of proportion to their prevalence on the road.

Over 50 fatal motorcycle accidents happen every year in Nevada. In the five-year period studied above, Clark County experienced the highest number of fatal motorcycle crashes by far – 210 out of 293. Seventy-seven percent of motorcyclist deaths happened on urban roadways and occurred every day of the week, every month of the year, both daytime and nighttime. While helmets undoubtedly save lives, fatal motorcycle accident victims were unhelmeted only 14% of the time, underscoring the severe danger of a motorcycle accident even to riders who are as fully protected as they can be. At 55%, the most common accident cause was a collision with a moving vehicle.

Las Vegas Motorcycle Accident Dangers

Whether in or out of town, on city streets or Nevada highways, certain factors are likely to cause or contribute to motorcycle accidents. Not surprisingly, another driver’s negligence is often to blame. Many drivers don’t think to watch out for motorcycles on the road, or when they do see them, they don’t take care to drive safely around them. At Cameron Law, we help motorcycle accident victims recover significant compensation for the harm done to them by a negligent driver. We believe that both justice and the victim’s personal needs demand a full accounting from the negligent driver, and we put forward our years of experience and dedication toward meaningful, successful results for our clients. Some of the leading causes of motorcycle accidents in Las Vegas include:

  • Drivers who make left turns across traffic or at intersections into the path of an oncoming motorcycle
  • Negligent drivers who change lanes without first signaling, checking their mirrors and their blind spots
  • Speeding drivers who don’t have time to respond correctly to a situation and avoid a crash
  • Drunk drivers who don’t see a motorcycle in their path and don’t take any evasive actions to avoid the collision or make it less severe by hitting their brakes
  • Distracted drivers who are looking at their phones instead of the road and the traffic around them
  • Reckless or aggressive drivers who crowd motorcycles out of their lane or swerve in front of the biker and then suddenly slow down
